Goldeneye Posted September 10, 2005 Posted September 10, 2005 Ok, I just got my parts for my new computer, and when I go to turn it on nothing happens. I have an Asus A8n SLI Deluxe, the green light is on the mother board. All my power connections are in. I am at a loss to what is wrong. Could the PSU be dead? What pins on the 24 pin do I use to jump start the PSU so I can test if it turns on? Also what signs would there be if the MB is dead? Would the green light even turn on? Thanks Goldeneye
kobalt Posted September 10, 2005 Posted September 10, 2005 If your psu were dead you wouldn't have anything lit up but it could be a short so when you push the button the psu sees it and shuts down immediately but it's odd that absolutely nothing happends usually you should have like a quarter of a second of juice Anthow, connect the green wire with a black in the motherboard cable, this should start your psu and if it starts well you might have a short. At least that's what i would check first
Guest Raven65 Posted September 10, 2005 Posted September 10, 2005 You might have grounded the Mobo. Check your wires and also check behind the Mobo, make sure you don't have any more screw inserts than you need, just 1 of them left in the wrong spot and not under a screw whole will ground out the Mobo and your psu or mobo won't juice. Verran Posted September 10, 2005 Posted September 10, 2005 Power switch could be faulty, or hooked up wrong. Normally this would be a last ditch for me, since they rarely just fail, but on a new case it could be bad from the start. Have you checked to make sure it's on right? Also, you can either use a multimeter to see if the switch is doing its job, or you can short across the power switch pins on the mobo and see if the PC starts up. Also, silly question, but did you use the mobo standoffs to mount it?
Goldeneye Posted September 11, 2005 Posted September 11, 2005 Thanks for the replies I figured out the problem and it all up and runniing . LOL I accidently hooked up the power switch wrong . I guess being half asleep and a little stressed can do this to you . I was really happy to know that the MB wasn't dead.
