Fan Speed Proggy For My Tornado?

RVE

Recommended Posts

Speedfan won't work right on my comp. It always freezes when I turn on the program. I tried MBM but I can't seem to figure it out, It just lists like a bunch of fans when I only have like 2 connected to the mobo. I can't even change any speeds or anything because it doesn't list any correct fans. I play around with the proggy and none of the adjustments seem to do anything. I don't hear any difference and I don't see any difference when I try to use MBM.

I want to use the Tornado as an exhaust fan but I don't want it on full blast all the time, it's friggin loud but I wanted the high CFM to blow out all the hot air.

I'm thinking about resorting to a buying a hardware controller, like a knob that connects between the fan and the mobo, but I'd like to use some software to regulate the Tornado. I don't really want to return the Tornado cause if I could just cut down the volume some but still get a nice CFM rate that'd be ideal.

Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I think your fan and motherboard have to support the changing of fan speeds.

I would recommend a manual control on the front.

I just ordered some swiches to set the voltage to 0, 5, or 12 volts.

it's realy cheap and you just need to solder some wires.

you can add a led and a transistor to see if it's on.

the price adds up at about $1,50 for each fan you want to connect.

look in modding for some other tips.

I think an turning knob should be easy aswell.

I just bought this rhombus fan controller, and I highly recommend it. it's awsom, nearly no installation. all you do is screw it in, and it comes with 4-3pin fan ports, you just plug in your fans, and give it 5v and your up and running.and it looks really cool to :)DSC03151.JPG

That rhombus looks pretty sic. I only need to control my Tornado though, so I'd be wasting the 3 other controls.

The Tornado uses a 4pin for power and a 3 pin to monitor it, so I can't regulate the power with a 3 pin connection from my mobo. All it can do is tell me how fast its going. I was thinking of doing like you guys suggested, getting one of those knob's or switches and hooking that up. I know how to solder it's a piece of cake so that's no problem. Any retail stores you know of that might sell something like that?

By the way: I love that ThinkGeek sticker. ph34r the root!
