Help Me Pick

Recommended Posts

hey guys what do you think i have a Leadtek 6800 NU 128

and i am looking at an upgrade because i think the ram my be falling a little short

when i play BF2 it plays great but when i shoot the RPG it has a slight lag untill the rocket hits the target

on my friends system a 2400+ with a cheap MSI board and Chaintech 5700 256 ram it runs great!

i have everything better than him

i have faster HDs and a better board and a faster CPU much better cooling and much better RAM,Mushkin as oppesed to generic (no name brand)

i also run 2 gig he runs 1 gig

the only i can thing of is the cardi have re installed the driver several times and defraged and the whole works

i do run at 1650 x 1080 that may have something to do with it

but i am wondering if the added ram might help

i want to build a get a new mobo and card but i cant afford the both

so i may just get a new card AGP

i wanna stay under $250 what card do you guys recommend?

do you think this would be an improvement

i dont think many game utliize the full 256mb of ram on video cards, so ur 6800 nu is not the problem, like silverfox said, update drivers, or do a reformat.

it is not so much it run s better

i just see problems when i shoot the bazooka ir anti tank turret

i do run at a hacked resolution that may be taxing the card

i run at 1680 x 1050 for widescreen (dell 20.1)

i may reformat

and i have run the newest drivers from invidia several times over and over again

but this has been doing this since i got the card i came from a 5900SE

but i got the card from Fed Ex the same day i got BF2

so i never used the 5900 with it i will put it in and try it out

i thought the Ram may have to do with it

or it is possible the card is screwed up

I doubt the card is the problem. Exit some ram hogging programs (eg IM clients). If that dosnt work I think you should reformat like these guys said, get a clean start. It might just be your resolution, Im sure your friend also plays on a lower quility setting than you, if all else fails lower the resolution of quility settings.

I would try a lower res first just to see if the problem goes away if it doesn't then reformat.

My 6800 did BF2 1024x768 maxed just fine...so my guess is too high of a res for your card. it's a 6800 for God Sakes, not a 6800ultra

DONT compare apples to oranges put your friends pc at your resoultion and play if its still better than yours try a reformat. if not lower it and be satisfied
