singhsoft Posted February 14, 2003 Posted February 14, 2003 You Rock! That worked dont give me any credit someone else on this same forum told me how to find the ram timings. now, what i did was lower the speed ddr400 => ddr333, then i put more aggressive timings on. 2,2,2,6 from 2,3,3,6. I instantly noticed the improvement. What cpu are you using? Your signature says that you are using a xp 2000. What i found out was when using ddr400 (200 fsb) with my 2100 xp (133 fsb) the difference slowed it down. and by increasing the cpu fsb increased the difference between them so it slowed down due to them being more out of sync. So it might not be worth you getiing pc3200 (ddr400) memory. Just stick with the 333 memory and put on fast ram timings. so running ram at 400 actually slows down my pc; the same might happen to you since your system is very similar. when i oc my fsb the overall performance goes down; so if you have a good cpu cooler, you can put your current ram to ddr266, and then oc your fsb to ~166.Then your ram would be at 333 speeds and your processor at about 2 gigahertz - equilvalent to 2400!!!!! and your ram won't be likely to get damaged because it is rated to run at 333. Depending upon the make of your ram you should be able to oc it to 2,2,2,6 if it is good quality like corsair; if it is generic or something not as good then be careful because you might damage it running it a too fast timings. DimensioN Posted February 15, 2003 Posted February 15, 2003 nice going. noce tweaking, but why don't you try 2-2-2-5 ? just asking greetz
singhsoft Posted February 16, 2003 Posted February 16, 2003 for some reason it only lets me choose 6 or 7; so 5 is not a option i would put it to 5 if i could
DimensioN Posted February 16, 2003 Posted February 16, 2003 ghehe, well that doesn't mathers, i doesn't makes that much of a difference, and even if you could, i don't think your memory would be able to run that fast 2-2-2-6 , is already VERY fast greetz
singhsoft Posted February 18, 2003 Posted February 18, 2003 and even if you could, i don't think your memory would be able to run that fast should be able to it is corsair xms 3200
