Us Rescue Effort A Shambles

Varry

When they were finally rescued it had been by Louisiana game wardens, who had entered the hotel with rifles and fixed bayonets, Mr Scott said.

^^^ hahahahaha and they expect somebody to believe that $#it? I highly doubt that story to be credible, but however it wouldn't surprise me one bit if some of those kinds of things went on at least once involving the local authorities from NO mainly due to the same reason Lo said it. NO is full of rotten corrupted low lifes.

See, why do I get yelped at when i try to disprove something BBC says? I am not a fan of New Orleans and their socialist agenda, but I am not going to say that the entire police department is full of perverts. Nothing I said in my first post was out of line. Obviously since you posted that link, you agreed with what it said...I was just telling you that that story may not be entirely true. Why would you get pissed from reading my posts in the other political forums? Is it because they are true and you have nothing with enough backing to counter them other than a firsthand account of a few people in a flooded city? Also, our media isn't funded by big business oil tycoons. Ever heard of Ted Turner? Maybe if I name off a couple of names of some of his companies his name will come back to you: TNT, TCM, Time-Warner, Cartoon Network/Boomerang, TBS. Goodwil games, MGM, Newline Cinema, and last but not least CNN and all of it's subsidiaries. CNN is one of the most liberal news stations in the country, and the 2nd largest.

What exactly have I posted that has made you so sore against me? Sure I throw in my opinion here and there (hehe), but I don't base it on anything but rock solid facts.

No I am not IN New Orleans....but my job makes me privy to a lot of information coming out of there. Our local and national news networks also have the ability to cover this disaster 24/7.

And as far as me posting in only political forums....look how many posts the forum counter says I have...keep in mind we don't get points for posting in political forums. And you see that little spinning strand of DNA under my avatar? That is because I fold. I have six xomputer folding at the moment. Not only am I a political buff, but I am also a computer nerd. Ant the reason I joined these forums a year ago was because i was a computer nerd, not because of the politicial forums. But, just as in real politics, you'll have people that love you and those that hate you.

EDIT: Also forgot to mention, Ted also owns A restaurant chain, Ted Turner Pictures, Ted Turner Documentaries, Turner Foundation, UN Foundation, Cinemax, Comedy Central, Court TV.... oh and he also owns the Atlanta Braves, the Atlanta HAwk,s and the Atlanta Thrashers.... and he's one of the most liberal men in the country.

Wait, so how many days did it take Belgium to offer assistance to the US to make the rescue effort less of 'a shambles'? Let's see... the hurricane hit August 29...sometime around Sept 4, the EU decides to help out... Wow, only a WEEK to decide to help. And only AFTER, the US asks the EU and NATO to help. Oh, and this is only the offer off assistance, who knows how long it'll be before they actually get around to sending anything. Here's a nice MSNBC link.

Yes, you stand so high and mighty criticizing the efforts, but what have you done? That's what I thought. Meanwhile, little old KUWAIT has pledged $500 MILLION and Qatar another $100 MILLION.

The Arab League said that its secretary-general, Amr Moussa, sent a cable of "deep condolences and regret to the U.S. administration over the effect of Hurricane Katrina ... and called on all Arab countries to extend aid to the United States to face the exceptional humane circumstances."
Funny that some people remember who has helped them in the past...

Belgium offered help the first day, but the us refused, all they wanted was medical supplies. Afterwards US changed their minds and accepted the help.

And i don't think it was Belgian responsablity to come and help from the first day.

If you want i can dig up something americans like to use saying; we came and rescued europe in WWII. Well why didn't the americans stop Hitler from day 1? They did not wait days, weeks BUT years before they helped so....

It's called Neutrality...something Belgium has been quite good at for the past century. We were staying out of it with men, but we were sending tanks, weapons, and planes over to the allies from the beginning. Also keep in mind that we did not declare war on Germany, we declared war on Japan, and Germany thus declared war on us...not the greatest move on their part, but hey! The fact of the matter is, regardless of when we entered the war (not that it would've benefited Belgium any since the Germans just pranced right through there on their route to Paris), we still turned the tide, and the face of Europe as we know ti today would definitely be different if we wouldn't have entered. We lost 300,000 men in Europe fighting for something that many people at home saw as unnecessary.

Why is the USA, the most giving, caring, powerful nation in the world always the one to get the blame for everything? Here is a typical world response to any foreign affair the US has ever entered. "What?! You can't go into Africa! You are just being Imperialists trying to spread democracy to people who may not want it!! Imperialists! Imperialists! Imperialists!...."

Two years later: "/GASP! Look at that AIDS epidemic in Africa! USA, how could you abandon these poor people! You are the world police, it is your job to save them! How dare you just let them die and hog all of your resources! Selfish! Selfish! Selfish!"

Well if belgium truly offered their assistance that early (though I can find no evidence of such) then I withdraw my statements and I thank you for your kind generosity.

And as Lo said, even though the US was not directly involved in the fighting, we were still sending aid.

Ah hah, here we go boys and girls, an "official" (not typed by me) article saying how it is NOT the federal government's fault the initial relief was a flop.

Wow...I just read this today and it almost mimics everything I've been typing on here for the past week.

George Bush and the federal government are not to blame for the disaster we have witnessed in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.

In fact, the primary responsibility for the disaster response lies with New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin, Louisiana Governor Kathleen Blanco and other local officials.

Yet leading Democrats and their allies in the major media are clearly using this disaster for political purposes and ignoring one obvious fact.

This fact

Thank you....

I was just going to post the little fact that it IS NOT the federal governements resbonsibility....until the state or local municipality ask for help....

when did LA ask?? after the Pres. called and said...Ummm... Ya think you should call for help???

Once the Fed Government was asked......see what happens.. relief was there......

Wow, dude. That must've taken you a long time to type. I admire your stamina and agree with everything you've said. I would also like to point to an article from ben stein (noted comedian and lawyer and author) that points out all the things that need to be pointed out.

Enjoy the read. But I'll doubt you'll be able to with your head so far up your butt.
