Ghost2520 Posted February 14, 2003 Posted February 14, 2003 I just got 3Dmark 2003 and my computer only got 803 3D marks. I have a AMD XP 1900+, 512 mb of ddr pc2100 memory, and a geforce 4 ti4200. I wouldn't care to much about my score except for one thing... my friend got 840 3Dmarks and he has a AMD 900mhz, 256mb of pc133 memory and a radeon 8500 pro. How the heck did he get a higher score than me?? For this and well I was gonna upgrade any way, I wanted to get a new motherboard. I currently have a ASUS A7M266. I would be happy with this except it only has two memory slots. I want to get a motherboard with more memory slots that also has 8x agp, but still uses the DDR PC2100 memory so that I don't have to go out and spend extra money... any help please?? Thanks
TiKiGoD Posted February 14, 2003 Posted February 14, 2003 easy.... ATI paid futuremark to optimize their software for its cards... NVidia didn't. There is a good article over at Hardocp.com discussing why this is... don't worry about it, ur comp is fine
MadMan Posted February 14, 2003 Posted February 14, 2003 So your basically said that prog is going to give all ATI's a better score just because they were paid to do it not because the actual computer is better??? That is some MAJOR BS if you ask me...I have a GeForce 4 Ti 4600 and I would want the REAL score for my computer compared to others at the same level...I think its unfair ATI gets a higher score even though its not really as good as another comp with an Geforce
Ronin Posted February 14, 2003 Posted February 14, 2003 maybe he means that it was written with ATI cards more in mind. However, what if they did this with gaming companies? Then it really would be ATI that was better because their cards would run all the games better....I wonder..
Shaggy Posted February 14, 2003 Posted February 14, 2003 I dont know that score seems a little low. Do you have all the new nvidia drivers?
DimensioN Posted February 14, 2003 Posted February 14, 2003 ghehe, well i don't know, i gues the ati cards are just a little better, and yeah they are working together with futuremark , gues nvidia has to remake some drivers or somthing greetz
Ghost2520 Posted February 15, 2003 Posted February 15, 2003 In reply to shaggy, yah I just got my video card drivers like a week ago, so they have to be up to date. Someone told me it may be my motherboard that is holding me back. I have an ASUS A7M266 and was thinking about buying a MSI KT4 Ultra. Ghost2520 Posted February 15, 2003 Posted February 15, 2003 Actualy it is because I am low on money and wanted to get a board that uses DDR PC2100 memory so that I didn't have to go out and buy more memory... I was just looking at that hardocp.com article and I didn't see where it said about ATI paying for their cards to look better. One thing that none of you have mentioned is that companies are saying they will not use 3DMark 2003 to test video cards because of these issues. tkos Posted February 16, 2003 Posted February 16, 2003 it happens all the time! Look at Intel, they do the same thing. Why do you think intel scores higher in the new sys marks! Its because its programmed to! A AMD is more efficient processor and intel nows it! So they have to try to make it appear that theres is superior any way they can! End of story..... <_<
