well my friend at school wanted to know what parts

to get today and I drew him up a quick estimate for

a comp which came to a bit under $750... I told him I'd

build it for $50 and get him real good deals for the parts

and stuff... was wonderin if anybody could help me out

in what else I can add to this for not much money...

mainly cheap mobo combos but for a faster one than

I put on here below... heres wat I drew up for him...

soyo barebones - $100 (1.3 duron/300w psu + case)

duron hsf - $10

some pc2100 ram - around $50-100 (128mb or 250mb...)

hard drive - $90 (80gigs... will find it for less money though...)

video card - $80 (geforce4 mx440)

cd-rw - $50 (16x....)

dvd - $50 (16x)

speakers - $40 (some creative 2.1's)

monitor - $100 (17', ussually deals for less at fry's)

keyboard - $20

mouse - $10

ethernet card - $10 (if not uncluded w/ mobo)

I dono why I came to 650 this time and 750 earlier but I went a little higher on this

price.... am I forgetting somethin??? well anyway he said he's got around $1000..

Im open to suggestions on higher performance for low prices...

dont think he needs anything for OC though...

thanx

they've got it at fry's here in fremont, california...

I got one for my girlfriend when I built hers (Lan Party . on here...)

its not bad of a system except like to boot I guess you gotta press

power and reset or somethin... I dono I dont think its all the time

but when I first got it set up I couldnt figure out why the power was

on and nothin was happening but when I figured it out she said and

her dad said that their other comp was like that and some old comps he's

used had been like that.....

well, ok , soyo is good if you only look at your money, but that's it, i had al the probs you can imagine, even the service(when something is damaged and gets fixed) didn't do me annything good. it could be i'm the only one with this problem, but i don't even care, i had lost of probs with it. even when i gave them a second chance an bought a second soyo board, it sucked really hard. so no soyo for me, but if you're fine with it, no prob for me ;)
