Ati Vs Nvidia

Ok, I've been working on my dream rig shopping list and I'm stuck on the GPU. At first I wanted a 6600gt but I was worried that I would have to upgrade in a year becuase it 128-bit and only 8 pipelines(i think, correct me if i'm wrong) but someone said the x800gt would kill the 6600gt anyday. I've also been looking at the 6800 but the 6600gt and the 6800 has a small difference in proformance. and the x800XXX looks pretty good but I'm a bit confused with all the letter after 800(pro, XT, XL, PE...) So any advice would be appcrieated(spelling?). BTW the mobo will be a MSI K8N Neo4/SLI NVIDIA nForce4 SLI Chipset Motherboard For AMD Socket 939 CPU and a Aspire 520W 12V Triple Fan Aluminum Power Supply (Silver), Model ATX-AS520W SILVER. If that PSU sucks recommend one under $75 that looks "cool".
