localguru Posted February 12, 2003 Posted February 12, 2003 so I just installed this new HSF, but I used the little packet of grese that came with it. I ordered the artic silver but it got lost in the peanuts. But now it is found, should I clean it off again, and put some on? Also I ddin't lap the new HSF, does it really make 5 degrees difference? DimensioN Posted February 12, 2003 Posted February 12, 2003 well if you take it of, put the as3 on it, and lap it, it "could", depends from system to system, but uhm if you only put the as3 on, and not lap it, it would make something like 1-
d3bruts1d Posted February 12, 2003 Posted February 12, 2003 AS3 will make a differance... Lapping, if done right, can make a differance.

DimensioN Posted February 12, 2003 Posted February 12, 2003 well i also have the TT volc.7+, on my intel 2.8-> 3.065, temps idle 33-34 load , 41. i have the cooling pasta from "geil", maybe if i put as3 on it, i would get a 35-36 load, that would be great .. but still i dunno if it has that much of an impact on intel, i think i would get like 38-39 greetz
KraZy Posted February 12, 2003 Posted February 12, 2003 I have gotten good results from AS3, but I hate to sound like the skeptic, it sounds more like the heat sink was not seated correctly. Did you make other changes besides that? BIOS updates or such?
