hairybobby Posted February 11, 2003 Posted February 11, 2003 Sorry if I'm in the wrong place but this seems as near as I could get. My extension lead with surge protect has just blown up. I only just bought it two weeks ago after the motor was blown out. anyone got any tips on surge protection. A lot of the problems seem to occur when I plug in my computer or something turns on. any help appreciated.
localguru Posted February 11, 2003 Posted February 11, 2003 most times isn't not surges that hork your stuff, it's brown outs. I lost two mother boards, in out new house, before, I bought a UPS. I would bet if you get a ups/back up battery things would live longer
justinal Posted February 12, 2003 Posted February 12, 2003 serge protectores dont react fast enough to stop surges but i have never heard a complaint about a ups thats ur best bet.

d3bruts1d Posted February 12, 2003 Posted February 12, 2003 Uninterruptible Power Supply Basically a back up battery that'll keep your electronics running for a short period of time (unless overloaded like mine) if the power goes out... most if not all have a surge protection built in.
