Kamikaze_Badger Posted August 12, 2005 Posted August 12, 2005 Am I the only one who can't stand infomercials? I mean, tons of times, I've been watching something on the Science Channel or Discovery Times Channel, given that they're the only two good channels that DirecTV offers, and that SON OF A MOTHER *bleep*ING Ionic Breeze infomercial comes on. I WOULD LIKE TO ACTUALLY WATCH A PROGRAM ON NAPOLEON OR THE SOLAR SYSTEM, NOT A FIVE *bleep*ING MINUTE INFOMERCIAL ON YOUR crapING $350 AIR PURIFIER, WITH AMAZINGLY *bleep*ING ANNOYING SCENES! So, does anyone else hate infomercials as much as I do?
henbenley Posted August 12, 2005 Posted August 12, 2005 You mean the 30 minute ones that are on every morning around 2am to 6am Thats almost all thats ever on that late (or early, depending on how you look at it). I agree that they are the most pathetic things ever, but whats worse is that there's people who actually watch the whole thing and then order like 10 of them. For those of us that do hate them, they're only being shown because people actually do buy them. Also, they also have stats as to how many people watch them and for how long (tv cookies!) - if no one watches them, there wouldn't be nearly as many shown... Verran Posted August 12, 2005 Posted August 12, 2005 So, does anyone else hate infomercials as much as I do? 526568[/snapback] I hate them all, except for the one with that creepy old leathery skinned guy selling the juice machine. I can never learn enough about "harnessing the power of my fruits and vegetables".
DECwakeboarder Posted August 12, 2005 Posted August 12, 2005 Lol, I hate them too! I never really watch tv, would rather be on my pc but when I do watch tv (late late nights, early early mornings) that's about all that's on. LoArmistead Posted August 12, 2005 Posted August 12, 2005 the most annoygin, repetitive infomercial on the face of the planet... that dang Ionic Breeze Quadra commercial... I've seriously considered suicide at some point when those things came on.

The two channels you mentioned, plus National Geo, History, and History International are my favorites; it's pretty much non-stop with that dang Ionic Breeze Quadra. Man, I thought I was the only one slowly losing my mind.

Why doesn't the sharper image put that money towards an infomercial about something a bit more useful like... idk... then again, how much at that store is actually a necessity? I too like the History Channel...a LOT. And when I am up at 4AM I want to watch something about Hitler overruning Frenchies. I wanna see nazis grrrrr! NOT the 30 minute advertisement for The Gazelle! r_target Posted August 12, 2005 Posted August 12, 2005 Yeah, I think regular History goes to Paid Programming at 4 or 5 A.M. History International goes all night. The good thing is they're always running commercials for the "Victory at Sea" DVD set, which I love: "Every 40 yards, a landing craft hits the beach....the Americans go in....and haaaang on....by their GUTS!" I'm gonna have to order that.
swifty11212 Posted August 12, 2005 Posted August 12, 2005 i seen proactiv commercials, does that product even work? some kids in school claim it work, otherwise during the winter good old cocoa butter helps my skin not get dry and peeling
