Kamikaze_Badger Posted August 12, 2005 Posted August 12, 2005 I'd guess C++... Man, dosn't all this just bring back memories of the PS2 code architecture?
hardnrg Posted August 12, 2005 Posted August 12, 2005 If you don't mind me asking (taking away from your precious report time ), what did you write this in, and how much time did it take? Just kinda out of curiosity really. I'm starting to think about learning some graphical stuff, just in my downtime, of which I have plenty at the moment.526529[/snapback] Verran, I'm using MS Visual Studio.net 2003 with the DirectX 9.0 SDK (August 2005)... it took about a day to do the actual code, but that's cos it's all fairly new to me... took a day or two to figure out how to do the game in Direct3D (i think after version 7.0 of directx, the 2D part was dropped and the whole thing is 3D somewhat like a playstation in a way) a good sources and tutorials i've used in the past is: http://www.gamedev.net but a lot of that is really outdated because they are based on older versions of DirectX... here some places that have new tutorials based on dx9 http://www.codesampler.com/dx9src.htm http://triplebuffer.devmaster.net/tutorials.php those are the most straightforward and easy to understand tutorials... both go into code and directx in a nice amount of depth too Savan, yeah the mouse cursor is supposed to be invisible on the game window just so it's not in the way of the action Anyone else missing sound though? I think it relies on windows sounds being active as it activates a windows system sound... Thankyou everyone! This testing is part of my project These results are going in my report and everything! Blue_cow Posted August 12, 2005 Posted August 12, 2005 you might want to change the sound because the windows noise is rather annoying
hardnrg Posted August 12, 2005 Posted August 12, 2005 if i ever make a game for fun rather than for grades i'll be sure to put some cool sounds in there... music... the whole shebang... this was a case of: next to no time, meet all the requirements, get it to work, kinda thing... i think i might spend all my free time learning how to make real game demos now that i've had a taste of making something that actually works (all my game attempts in the past haven't been completely successful and most just didn't work at all) right... 20 hours of sleep comin up lol
