cdoggown Posted July 29, 2005 Posted July 29, 2005 OK, so Im talking to my wife and she says "so, your birthday is in three weeks, what do you want for under $150 bucks?" and first I think to myself "I love you, but your a cheap (%(#$), but then I realize how much money Ive been spending on the new car to get it ready for show and decide not to say anything. So pretty much I cant think of anything. I think I may be able to push her to 200-225 if I try hard enough, but all I really want aside from expensive things for the car is some computer upgrades. So, as Im sure you can tell from my sig, its about time. I hopped on Newegg and got so lost. From reading on here it seems my best bet is a socket 939 Athlon 64 processor. But in order for me to get that, I need a Socket 939 mobo. I can order a PCI-e 6600GT later, but for now I need a mobo and processor combo that is both stable, easily overclockable, and feature-rich enough to where I wont be in this boat next year right before my 25th b-day. Any help is appreciated. I was kind of looking at this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16819103537 or http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16819103536 for the processor (any idea why the OEM one would have a higher voltage listed?) and http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16813136160 for the mobo. Sorry for the long post but she NEEDS a b-day idea

kobalt Posted July 30, 2005 Posted July 30, 2005 Tiger direct has good 64's combo. I suggest a 3200 chip what ever you choose mobo wise. I personally have a 3000 but wish i had a bit more cash when i bought it
Kash Posted July 30, 2005 Posted July 30, 2005 Umm, what are you planning on doing with a CPU and mobo if you don't have a PCI-Express video card to stick in there? Are you just going to build the rig and then wait till you can save up enough money to get the video card, and then finally be able to use it?
