Arkadiy Posted July 28, 2005 Posted July 28, 2005 Hey guys, I here my current system specs and am wondering if this is ram is good for me, AMD Athlon 64 3200+ ATI AIW Radeon 9800 PRO ASUS K8N-E Deluxe Kingston HyperX KHX3200UL/512 512MB DDR400 PC3200 Ultra Low Latency Memory w/Heat Spreader (exact name ) Ok, now I know 512 MB isn't enough for these days and am getting some more, so I am wondering if this stick would be good for me: http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDetai...oductCode=83704 Please help me. Oh and would this be good enough to run BF2 with no/minimum lag? I can currently run it, but only on low settings and I heard that my ram is what is holding me back so...... evanin Posted July 29, 2005 Posted July 29, 2005 you could just get another stick of Kingston HyperX KHX3200UL/512 512MB DDR400 PC3200 Ultra Low Latency Memory w/Heat Spreader and run it in dual channel. or get 2 sticks of the Patriot ram. since 2x512=1G
LoArmistead Posted July 29, 2005 Posted July 29, 2005 Yeah that's a nice stick of RAM. People usually don't like you running 2 sticks of RAM from different manufacturers, but I'll go ahead and tell you I used a POS stick of "Centon" 512 pc2700 RAM i got from an OEM compaq, and I bought a 512 stick of "Infineon valueram" for cheapo at compusa, and I was able to achieve a light OC on them, and they didnt fail me for years. Ok well they didnt fail me for one year, then I upgraded
evanin Posted July 29, 2005 Posted July 29, 2005 Buying the same manufacturer makes it more likely to run in duel channel without problems and makes sure the timings are the same.
kendellrt Posted July 29, 2005 Posted July 29, 2005 Patriot w/XBL rocks! I am using a 512*2 dual channel kit now. It is rated to do PC 4200 @ 2.9v, 3-3-3-8-1T. I have never heard anything bad about it, and it has TCCD chips. The non-XBL sticks are not TCCD, so don't skimp!
Arkadiy Posted July 29, 2005 Posted July 29, 2005 (edited) Thanks for all the responses! Yea, I am currently running a few things and it is definitely my ram, my CPU is usually at 10 - 12 % while the RAM is running at 50% usage and all I am doing is running iTunes, xFire, and FireFox. I am going to get one of these sticks for now and if it works a lot better I will get another one! Thank you all! [EDIT]: Instead of getting that would this be better? http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDetai...80098-21&ps=ho1 I just really want the best bang for my buck if you know what I mean Edited July 29, 2005 by Arkadiy
