Gregorama Posted July 26, 2005 Posted July 26, 2005 I recently set my RAM limit to 200, and pushed my multi down to 10. Here are my frequencies after pushing the fsb to 40. AMD 64 3200+ (skt 754) @ 2.4Ghz 2 X 512MB Kingston HyperX @ 440Mhz (3-3-3-8) In order to hit 440mhz, I had to loosen the timings a bit. Last time I went a bit further, I experienced instability. Any suggestions? (It isn't a heat issue, plus, I heard the HyperXs make good overclockers). Also, do my AM3 results look alright for my hardware? AquaMark Score: 67039 (CPU: 9913, GFX: 10128) Suggestions appreciated.

At some point, the stock voltage will not be enough to stay stable. Also, you'll need to post what kind of video card you have, or we won't know whether or not your AM3 scores are any good (for what you have). ir_cow Posted July 26, 2005 Posted July 26, 2005 i got that chip to 2.5ghz with muti at 10 and fsb at 250. you also said you got it at 440 which would be 220, you mean 480mhz if you have your fsb at 240 and chip at 2.4ghz with muti at 10x. i say drop your trimmings to 3-4-4-10 move it to 2.45ghz boost vcore to 1.6v and see if its stable. it should be. you can get it to 2.45ghz witrh 1.55v but right afterwards at 2.46ghz its unstable like crazy. also if your ram cant handle it put a divier on. Gregorama Posted July 26, 2005 Posted July 26, 2005 Sorry about that, wrote it incorrectly. My ram's at 240Mhz. Also, I've got my cpu @ 1.55v Complete system specs for your reference: -3200+ skt 754 @ 2.4Ghz (1.55v) -ATi Radeon X800XL @ 440/540 (going to volt mod soon) -2 X 512MB Kingston HyperX PC3200 @ 240mhz (3-3-3-8) -Gigabyte GA-K8NS mobo -WD 74GB 10,000RPM HDD
Verran Posted July 26, 2005 Posted July 26, 2005 Well with that system I think your benches seem pretty reasonable. Your system is pretty comparable to mine (for the most part), and I get roughly the same in AM3. I have a bit more of an overclock than you do (but with a divider on the mem), but I get a little higher score too As far as the video cards, I think stock they're pretty evenly matched, but I don't know how much of an OC you have because I don't know your stock speeds offhand (more of an nVidia guy, myself ). Anyways, what I'm saying is... I think your bench scores look about right.
ir_cow Posted July 26, 2005 Posted July 26, 2005 (edited) yeah it seems to be a nice small Oc, newcastle's dont go higher than 2.5 on avge from what iv seen, once you hit 2.5 you need lots of Volts , btw unlike the winnies (939) these babys can take the volts all the way up to 1.8v, but you need some good phasechanger on that. after 1.6v you may want to put a new Hsf on it since stock one wont do. p.s you seem to have close to the same setup before i upgraded to a 3700+ (check sig) Edited July 26, 2005 by hornybluecow
Gregorama Posted July 26, 2005 Posted July 26, 2005 Verran, thanks for your input. The X800XL is stock at 400/490. I have the AGP version, which tends to overclock better than the PCI-E version. But, overall, the X800XL doesn't overclock well without a volt mod (which is why I'm stuck at 440/540). I'm looking into volt-modding it at the moment. Bluecow, I'm able to hit about 2.65 - 2.7Ghz, as I'm not on the stock cooler. But, in order to do that, I have to drop my RAM limit to 166. Not really worth it, plus I crash every now and then in games with direct errors. At 2.4Ghz, I idle around 29C, and hit 40C under full load.
