Best Ocing Core

Recommended Posts

Ok, the FX series is out of my budget.

So, what's the best AMD OCing core? Heat won't be a problem, as by the time I have the money for the upgrade, my VPC should be done.

PS Yes I searched.

I did hear the 3200+ venice was good but also heard the 3700+ sandy had a good oc core too. That's what I downgraded from my 3800 newkie to the 3700 sandy.

I'm leaning towards the 3000+ Venice right now.

I took a chance on a 3000+ venice a few weeks back and got to say glad i did,

As for it's overclockability there is no stopping it,

But remember no overclock is gauranteed whatever you buy,

Personally i would rather be dissapointed with a cheap cpu.

I've been looking at those too. They seem to clock pretty darn well for a measly 150 or so. The earlier week ones seemed to hit 2.8 or 2.9 pretty often, but from what I've seen almost all of them get to at least 2.5. As you know, it's all luck, but for 150 bucks or so, you don't really have a ton to lose if it's a dud. But also, the upgraded memory controller seems to make for far fewer "duds".

Also, the SD cores are sweet, but pricey for me right now. That's why I'm thinking venice.
