Kamikaze_Badger Posted July 21, 2005 Posted July 21, 2005 Ok, the FX series is out of my budget. So, what's the best AMD OCing core? Heat won't be a problem, as by the time I have the money for the upgrade, my VPC should be done. PS Yes I searched.
swifty11212 Posted July 21, 2005 Posted July 21, 2005 all in all the 3200+venice seem to be hitting 2.6-2.8 pretty good if you got the cooling and ram and stepping.
Guest Raven65 Posted July 21, 2005 Posted July 21, 2005 I did hear the 3200+ venice was good but also heard the 3700+ sandy had a good oc core too. That's what I downgraded from my 3800 newkie to the 3700 sandy.

Kamikaze_Badger Posted July 21, 2005 Posted July 21, 2005 I'm leaning towards the 3000+ Venice right now.

D-BEAR Posted July 22, 2005 Posted July 22, 2005 (edited) I'm leaning towards the 3000+ Venice right now. 513793 I took a chance on a 3000+ venice a few weeks back and got to say glad i did, As for it's overclockability there is no stopping it, But remember no overclock is gauranteed whatever you buy, Personally i would rather be dissapointed with a cheap cpu. Verran Posted July 22, 2005 Posted July 22, 2005 I'm leaning towards the 3000+ Venice right now. 513793 I've been looking at those too. They seem to clock pretty darn well for a measly 150 or so. The earlier week ones seemed to hit 2.8 or 2.9 pretty often, but from what I've seen almost all of them get to at least 2.5. As you know, it's all luck, but for 150 bucks or so, you don't really have a ton to lose if it's a dud. But also, the upgraded memory controller seems to make for far fewer "duds". Also, the SD cores are sweet, but pricey for me right now. That's why I'm thinking venice.
Kamikaze_Badger Posted July 22, 2005 Posted July 22, 2005 Aye, and I should have that VPC by then, which will mean uber cooling and ocing .
