Silverfox Posted July 24, 2005 Posted July 24, 2005 thermal paste is the paste between the processor heat spreader and heatsink to ensure perfect contact as aluminium/copper bases and the like, have small imperfections that the paste fills. it is the best way to ensure perfect contact - pads suck. i hate my P4 coming with a pad so i changed that! Magicky Posted July 25, 2005 Posted July 25, 2005 (edited) I have the same processor, inside a Tsunami case (Thermaltake) with the XP-90C heatsink and a Panflow 120 mm fan. The case has 2 120 mm fans push/pull and a 90 mm fan on the side cover. I watch my temps with Motherboard Monitor (and ASUS probe) and under load it'll reach 105 F. Thats with it oc'ed to 5% for a increase to 2.42. I'd bet that with the stock heatsink those temps would be 7-10 degrees higher. Spend the bucks for quality, you'll be pleased. Anyway, thats my 2 cents worth. Magicky Edited July 25, 2005 by Magicky
