Its one of them extra features of windows thats really great when it works and doesn't say yea we see a harddrive here would you like to remove it. I wish computers could comprehend what its asking then itd would see how dumb the prompt is..

It does not have to be an MSI board. Raven has it right it is due to the nforce drivers

i wonder what would happen if you ejected the drive windows is on do you think it would alow that?

Youcan't eject the drive. You dbl the icon, stop the drive whatever it says of that nature. It will say it is safe to remove. So you can unplug it. But I have no idea if it is safe to remove the powerplug though. SOmeone else can prolly let you know about that.
