CoolMaster Posted July 18, 2005 Posted July 18, 2005 Just very simple, is it better to have more air going in, or more air going out of a case, cause a bought a vantec tornado for my side panel plexiglass window panel thing and I dont know if it'd bre better to make it push air in (on my video card) or pull hot air out? exeter_acres Posted July 18, 2005 Posted July 18, 2005 yes.. really it is an age old debate...some say one way (positive pressure forces dust out) some say the other (negative pressure pulls in more fresh air) etc. etc. There really isn't a hard and fast answer... test it either way and see which produces better results for you... Me? I try to get it pretty well balanced...cfm in = cfm out

fire_storm Posted July 18, 2005 Posted July 18, 2005 I usually have the fans in the front and side blowing in and the ones on the top and back blowing out. I have done it in a case all fans were blowing out didn't work that well the air just got sucked in throught the fans blowing out of the front case so its a good thing to balance fans. DarkScorpion Posted July 18, 2005 Posted July 18, 2005 I try to keep the CFM's balanced in my case. I have 3 120mm intakes and 3 80mm exhausts, but I have some good airfilters on my 120's so the CFM of each individual 120 is slightly above the CFM of each individual 80mm. fire_storm Posted July 18, 2005 Posted July 18, 2005 I find that it is less of a problem for more fans to blow in then out.
wanksta Posted July 18, 2005 Posted July 18, 2005 balance, but if you have an odd number, more pushing in, this createds very very slight higher pressure of air on the inside of the case, higher pressure means more air means better cooling
IUMaestro Posted July 19, 2005 Posted July 19, 2005 exeter has it right.. the there's no real answer. it's experimenting in your situation to find which gives you the best result. if you have just the 1 tornado, put it on your proc. my days of having 2 tornado's (1 proc, 1 intake) are over. i was afraid the tower would take off and fly away on it's own when i wasn't there. (yes it has a mind of it's own)
