hardnrg Posted July 16, 2005 Posted July 16, 2005 That would be the only drawback to the iRivers that I can see. You have to use an app from iRiver to manage the files on your player. 510049[/snapback] you can download a firmware update to allow file transfers without the need for special software ... it limits the line input mp3 encoding to 96kbps max on my iFP-899 (1GB) player... because line-in recording is important to me (DJ ) i keep the "needs special app" firmware to keep my bitrate restriction disabled... wma/mp3/ogg, 5-band custom eq, the best portable music device i have heard regardless of media type... absolutely blows away everything including "compression free" formats like cd or tape... highly highly recommend the iRiver iFP series as the best sounding mp3 player available... paired with my Koss Portapro's the sound is on par with my $3200 home sound system!!!
