Recommended Posts

I just overclocked my cpu from 2.4 to 2.6 but been wondering how do you tell if prime 95 is reading any erros? Does the program shut down or somthing or will it tell you?

prime will shut down if you have errors, otherwise it will continue to run until you shut it down....24 hours is the rule of thumb to be concidered stable.

My rule of thumb is about 18hours, because that's the amount of time from when I go to bed at night to when I get home from work :P

If you can do 18 hours, I think you're in very good shape.

That's why you hear people talk about the "AGP lock"

Any good board these days will let you "lock" the AGP speed so that you DON'T overclock it. Running that too fast can be bad, since that's not the way to OC a video card. But yes, if you don't have a lock on your motherboard, then overclocking your cpu will also overclock your AGP/PCI busses, which is bad.
