HogDog Posted July 4, 2005 Posted July 4, 2005 I have a Maxtor external hard drive; it worked fine until a few days ago when I tried to access it. I got a message saying, "Hard drive H is not formatted, would you like to format it now?" Any suggestions?

Puck Posted July 5, 2005 Posted July 5, 2005 This is kind of a guess but maybe the partition information stored on the drive got corrupted somehow? A format should do the trick, but also cause you to lose all your stuff :'(

Vampire Posted July 5, 2005 Posted July 5, 2005 If all else fails use GetDataBack for NTFS or FAT32 (PM me for details if you need). This will recover your information, then you can format and try again. GetDataBack nearly always works for corrupted files systems which sounds like your problem.
