BigBabyJesus Posted June 1, 2005 Posted June 1, 2005 I installed windows 64 bit edition, and the only way I can get it to boot is if it boots from cd, then all is well, but doing this takes a good 10 minutes. Trying to boot without the cd, and it gives me this error No boot filename Received, so I searched google and came across that it didn't have any boot files etc. And to fix it I need to Repair the windows installation, but the windows 64bit edition doesnt have repair as an option, any help? cybergrunt69 Posted June 1, 2005 Posted June 1, 2005 How many partitions are on the hdd? IIRC, the 64-bit version forces you to do a full format on the drive, correct? Try looking on the root directory and make sure the following files are all there (probably hidden): 'Boot.ini', 'Ntdetect.com', and 'Ntldr' If they are there, then the MBR could be messed up - you will need to fix it with the Recovery Console. Also, as opposed to booting from the CD every time to get into windows, try copying those 3 files to a freshly formatted floppy disk - that should get you in a lot faster than the cd - as long as the boot.ini has the right drive info in it.
