peshewah Posted May 28, 2005 Posted May 28, 2005 I was having trouble with heat ( not too hot 49C with load) so I pulled my heatsink and cpu to clean and re-apply AS5 and put everything back together, I turn on my comp and it won't display on monitor or keyboard or mouse. All the fans blow and lights work. I cleared the cmos jumper and no help. It also keeps giving me one long beep after another. Can anyone help me out? My components are in my signature. Nagash Posted May 28, 2005 Posted May 28, 2005 That's what mine does (or something similiar atleast) if I have forgot to plug in my video cards extra molex connector. Might want to check if you knocked that loose. Otherwise, take a look at the cpu and everything else that you changed.
Sovek Posted May 28, 2005 Posted May 28, 2005 mine did that, all I know is it either didnt like the RAM or needed a native 24 pin PSU, I said the heck with it and bought a MSI NEO4. booted right up, even with out a 24 pin PSU. peshewah Posted May 28, 2005 Posted May 28, 2005 I changed the ram out and got the same results. I have had nothing but trouble with this new build.
Sovek Posted May 28, 2005 Posted May 28, 2005 I take it its not a NEO2 board, I would try testing the parts on another board. that includes the PSU.
markiemrboo Posted May 28, 2005 Posted May 28, 2005 Repeating (endless loop) Memory error Check for improperly seated or missing memory. or possibly... Repeating High/Low CPU Either the CPU is not seated properly or the CPU is damaged. May also be due to excess heat. Check the CPU fan or BIOS settings for proper fan speed. BUT! If it's just one long continuous drone, no pauses, you've probably forgot to plug your graphics card power in. EDIT: Made that last part big and unmissable. peshewah Posted May 29, 2005 Posted May 29, 2005 yes it is a MSI neo2 platinum. And there is a pause between the beeps.

Also Pull the processor for look for bent/ missing pins. ALso call MSi/ look in manual for what the long beep means
Sovek Posted May 29, 2005 Posted May 29, 2005 (edited) Like I said, try another board, I have no idea what it could be, was never able to figure it out myself. I just replaced it with an MSI board. What I would do is buy the D-Bracket, a diagnostic tool from MSI, it will tell you what is wrong. peshewah Posted May 29, 2005 Posted May 29, 2005 I also think it is the mobo or the cpu. I thought about RMA'ing both hoping I might get a Vinice instead of a Winne. And the board has gave me alot of trouble. I changed out my heatsink back to stock to see if the pressure I applyed to install it made it kind of cock eyed in the socket. BUT, when i first built this system I had to RMA the video card. When I got it back it made the same beeping sound that its making now. So I sent it to the $65 an hour guys and they got it running for me. They told me it was becuase I had memory in slots 1 and 2 and it needed to be in 1 and 3 to display. After they got it running I put it back to 1 and 2. Worked better and faster. So, how much is a D Bracket and where do I get one. Would it be cheaper to buy a whole different mobo. Guest Raven65 Posted May 29, 2005 Posted May 29, 2005 Is your 4 pin cpu power connector seated correctly? that could cause it.
peshewah Posted May 30, 2005 Posted May 30, 2005 I do have a D- Bracket but it was not hooked up. So I hooked it up and that reads a badly seated CPU or a bad CPU ( 4 red lights). So I tryed to re-install the CPU and heatsink back to stock with still no luck again. The thing is it worked fine (except for the heat) until I removed the heatsink and CPU to clean and re-apply the thermal goobee. And then "no post". I think I'm going to RMA the CPU AND mobo. It well probably take the same amount of time so what the hell. THank You for your time and your input. Have a safe Memorials Day. Your good people.
