Sovek Posted May 27, 2005 Posted May 27, 2005 (edited) well, decided that even if I couldnt load windows I would try my hand at a little overclocking, and underclocking. My first attempt was a success, just shy of 1.9 Ghz, with my FSB at 210 MGhz and my multiplier by 9. So I upped it to 211, boot, 217, boot, 219, boot 220, no boot. My guess is its the ram. so right now Im running at 1.973 GHz I also tried underclocking, it did not like that at all, no boot, I only tried once but, I dont see the point. My specs, MSI NEO4 (S939) Athlon 64 3000+ 512MB no name RAM Giga-byte 6600GT. Update: now it wont boot at all, Ive hit the CMOS clear switch, looks like Im gonna have to take the battery out. ok, now some help is needed, took the battery out, still no boot, no beep no nothing, fans come on and everything. r_target Posted May 27, 2005 Posted May 27, 2005 Pull your RAM or video card and see if you get a beep when you try to power on. If you get a beep, usually the board's OK.
MasterRex862 Posted May 27, 2005 Posted May 27, 2005 HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAH... Sorry but it is kinda funny that you F'ed up before even getting Windows installed.
Sovek Posted May 27, 2005 Posted May 27, 2005 (edited) pulled the ram, no video, no beep. but all fans come on, it seems like it has life. This ram I think sucks, Ill prolly wind up buying another stick of something better. I think I may have messed it up trying to OC it. and I got windows installed, but it wont load windows, its 98, and it doesnt work well on that computer. Guest Raven65 Posted May 28, 2005 Posted May 28, 2005 how long did you keep the battery out? you need to keep it out about an hour and so.
Sovek Posted May 28, 2005 Posted May 28, 2005 (edited) ahhhh, I thought you only needed it out for about a minute. Update: I have it up and running, and stuck the FSB at 217, I know, a pathetic 150 Mghz, but I dont know how to stick a divider on this NEO4 board.
