thomas111 Posted May 25, 2005 Posted May 25, 2005 Hi! I`m not shure if this is the best choice, but with buildt in graphics and 939 socket it`s very appeling to me! But somebody talked about a bad southbridge, is this true?? Anybody know anything about this card?? Or is this card a better choice: Sapphire RS480AS9-A58S? Not looking for overclocking-features, but mayby in the future.. <_< Thomas!
guzzidom Posted May 25, 2005 Posted May 25, 2005 (edited) It's fine as long as you don't actually intend to play any games!, I suppose it is very cheap for a 939 board and you can always upgrade the graphics later. Though it has no overclocking options (at all) it does have a slick "surroundview" feature that lets you enable the onboard graphics as well as a seperate card allowing you to run 3 monitors at once! Guest Raven65 Posted May 26, 2005 Posted May 26, 2005 Personally I'd stay away from the onboard graphics mobo's. They slow down the computer and you really can't game with them.
r_target Posted May 26, 2005 Posted May 26, 2005 The onboard graphics will not be very beefy, but if you're still using AGP it might be a way to get your foot in the door with PCI-Express. You might want to track down some reviews on the web 'cause I don't really know much about that board.
thomas111 Posted May 26, 2005 Posted May 26, 2005 (edited) Hi! Thanks a lot guys , i`m not a gamer so the graphics is good enough for movies and so?? The thing that uses resourses on my computer is by use of torrents, mayby ripping movies and going to set up an server/homepage. Can not find any reviews on this mainboard (Edit: found it now), mayby it`s to new for that. Can`t even find faq`s or dowloadble stuff on msi`s homepage. Only found something in the forum and product info.. Another Qustion: What is there to gain from deactivating virutal memory and how much ram should i then use?? spazmire11 Posted May 26, 2005 Posted May 26, 2005 theres nothing to gain by doing that just a bunch of weid problams and like 500mb off hd space keep it on if u have 512mb of ram u might get away withit with a 1gb of ram but some old apps will be mad keep it at about 500mb is wat i do cause i dont care about the space seing as i have 500gb
thomas111 Posted May 26, 2005 Posted May 26, 2005 (edited) Hi! Thought this would help the alround perfomance because the ram is much faster than a harddisc. Because the data-buffer then goes from virutal memory to to only ram?? From 1Gb and up then??
