One of the MS patches (from about a year ago) was an update to allow you to set the default application for an item; you can find it in the left pane of the add/remove programs control panel applet. If windows is always switching back to OE for email although you have Outlook installed, maybe you can check to make sure Outlook is the default email app.

Outlook Express shouldn't be getting the emails unless you open it and tell it to. Have you set up outlook to receive the emails for that specific email account, or do you open OE to get them? If you keep using OE, try changing your outlook profile to also receive that acct's email.

Have you set up Outlook to check that specific email account? It kinda sounds like you're not seeing the email in outlook, so you open OE, and it's there. is that correct or not?

Also, you can't send an email to an application - you send it to an email address. The end-user uses an application to access it - the email is just waiting on the server for you to come get it - as long as the application is set up to access the right server with the right username/password and smtp/pop/imap settings.

Ill try to explain the best i can.

As far as i know a client who has outlook as there default program,

But recently they went away, but left there computer running.

She came back and tried to access her emails through outlook as usual. But they werent there they were now in Outlook Express.

So what i am thinking is that when she was away windows decided to do an update and asked whether or ot they wanted outlook express to be the default program. As she wasn't there i'm wondering whether Windows did a count down and automatically did the switch itself? Is that possible? But when we change it back to Outlook and reboot it will reset everything and leave outlook express as default! does that make sense?

ALex
