U might wanna consider going socket 775, it's the new "thing" for intel

and it's more futureproof

not really that big of a performance diff, but if he plans on upgrading ya know

and get a board with PCI-E and AGP if u can

try a DFI lanparty, altho the one u recommended was good too, ive heard from people at least

the DFI i875 series of boards is a good choice. you can get a good lanparty board for either socket with 8x agp and regular DDR ram for a good price. they both OC well and hold up to tons of abuse.

i picked 478 over 775 because of the issue of processor changes. so whats a decent 775 board?

IMO its about the same in terms of installation, and i wouldnt believe the "25" install crap, ive heard of people doing more that, it just depends on how well you do it, and how carefull you are.

I think it's best to get whats new now,

Thats what i went with, and it was more expensive at the time, but overall worth it, theres new toys out everyday now (64bit CPU's, SLI boards for intel etc...) so my upgrade options IMO arent like what they used to be, but i can still get a decent CPU (maybe the Preslers will work with 925x boards) and my o/c speeds are great.
