Bleeble Posted May 21, 2005 Posted May 21, 2005 Yes, another Xbox360 thread. I just wanted to know if it is going to be reverse compatible. I thought the official answer from MS was no, but free360xbox.com says differently (along with a few other sites/people). So, what's the truth? Kash Posted May 21, 2005 Posted May 21, 2005 Officially Microsoft has stated that all major games that have been released for the XBox will work on the XBox360. This is to avoid the aftermath of Sony's claim of the PS2's ability to play ALL of the PS1 games, when in fact, several games would refuse to work on the new platform. This way, Microsoft avoids the problem of some games not working on the new platform while being able to guarentee that the most popular games (the ones that EVERYONE own) will definitely work, and thus draw in the crowds that wish to continue playing games like Halo 2 and any new games on a single machine. marsx69 Posted May 22, 2005 Posted May 22, 2005 They said in the E3 press conference that "all top selling xbox games will be playable on the xbox360". Take that however you like, all, some, most, 2-3, etc. We'll find out the hard way in November. Besides, it doesn't really matter, there will always be a few games that won't work on the new system. It will prolly be the one that only sold 10 copies, but someone still has it and wants to play it on thier new 360.
