Go with the DFI mobo. Chances are his video card isn't that great, so try for the 6600GT (but I could be wrong). How's the cooling with that case? Are you going to use the stock cooler? It might be worth a few bucks for AS5, that can bring temps down even with stock coolers.

It might be worth it to jump to the Nforce 4 and get a pci-x version of the 6600gt...it's more future proof than going agp again. :)

well money is the limitng factor for the 6600.If he has enough money,Yes i recommend to him to pay extra an go with dfi and the 6600.:)

I dont know about the cases cooling, i just gave him the case link on newegg and told him to pick something he liked, hehe. But i will use the HSF that comes with the proc, and then ill use some as5 i have from my system.

EDIT:I checked the case, it has 4 80mm fan holes so it should be fine :) plus i think the psu has 2 fans...plenty of cooling for a plain high performance system..:)

Gotcha. Is that DVD burner dual-layer compatible? You should be able to find one for the same price (or not much more). Check local stores too, they usually have good deals on that kind of stuff (at least here).

theres only one dual layer capable sata dvd burner on newegg and its not white/beige so i just chose the previous model which had a choice for black... :(

i actually guess i could paint it...hmm, well ill just add that on a little things to do list...

dual layer is pretty useful

I prefer SATA over IDE, but does it need to be SATA? You might be able to save some cash and have a larger selection with IDE. I dunno, just an idea. Well, everything looks good to me. Just push for the DFI mobo and 6600GT, the extra money will be worth it, for both performance and upgradeability. And if you're looking to save money and not planning to OC, you might be able to find cheaper low-latency RAM than that (maybe, I didn't look).

Unless his card is really crappy, the 6600gt wont be a huge improvement, and it may be worth his saving up a bit more and getting a higher end card - I'd get the dfi, but only a real cheap pci-e card just to be able to use the computer till he can afford a better card.
