Like in yalls opinion, when do you think AGP is gonna go away, and PCI-E will take over?

Seeing as they are still making all the newest cards in AGP, and they still dont use all the bandwidth, I think AGP still has some life left in it :D. Until SLI/AMR becomes a more affordable option, I think AGP will still be available for a while now :D

probably the next gen of cards the highest end cards agp will bottleneck so only pci-e for the highest, but on mid-high cards agp will still be acceptable, then it will slowly move down through the next gens. Like 2 generations from now maybe only the mid-range cards will be able to be agp without any bottlenecking.

As current PCI-E solutions don't even utilize the maximum bandwidth of the x16 BUS, I'd say it would be another year or so before AGP dies. We'll soon know that as soon as motherboard manufacturers stop making i865PE boards with socket 775 / AGP combinations. :D

if you go to any best buy, comp usa or whatever your major computer store is in your area...you should notice that ALL of their new computers have ONLY PCI-Express video cards if not just plain onboard video. Consider AGP already faded my friends. Yes, the video card manufacturers may offer a similar version of the PCI-Express for a few more months..but i think they have thrown in the towel on the AGP market. As it is pushing the "obsolete" factor, it makes people feel their computers aren't capable of the latest technology regarding multimedia...so it pushes the envelope for people to buy a WHOLE new computer. Way of the world.

lets just say that pci-e is the future, and the new r520 core when it comes out will only come out in pci-e.

If I told you how it benches I would have to kill you.
