Radeon X800xl Or Geforce 6800gt

Recommended Posts

Hey all, Im about to be getting components for my nephews computer soon, he is going to be playing alot of games. He even went to his local gamestore, and bought Doom3 and the expansion pack, and doesnt even have a computer, LOL. I am slapping a 2800+ XP Barton, 512MB PC 3200 Kingston HyperX ram, all on a DFI Board. I am curious though, as the main component here is the gfx card. I budgeted 300.00 for a video card for him, and am stuck between teh X800XL (ATI MADE) or the Geforce 6800GT (XFX). I have read reviews on both, and they rival each other in EVERY game reviewed. I cant make a rock solid decision here. Thats where you come in! Give me some 2 cent--ers!

Thanks!

Oh yea, almost forgot, they are both the 256MB DDR3 versions.

I personaly would go with the X800XL, but thats mainly because I have been very very happy with All my ATi cards.

The 6800GT would perform just as well!

But, seeing as he already has Doom3 it might be better to go with the 6800GT, as nVidia cards perform better on that.

But the X800Xl would still play it at decent settings. :)

This is one of the few cases where you will hear me vote for an nVidia card lol. I would go with the 6800gt over the x800xl in this scenario, but whoever said a 6600gt over an x800xl should be monkey stomped haha :P

TRUE TRUE

x800xl will smack down the 6600gt.

but I still have my vote for x800xl

or u could go the other route and just save your money for the x850:)
