yea I have met the Fedex guy and the UPS guy already this morning. I hate UPS so bad lol. Picture this...the fedex guy brings in 7 17" LCD's and sits them nice, neat, and properly on the floor the way they are supposed to be handled. The UPS guy brings in 1 17" LCD and sits it upside down on the handle end of the box where it reads "This side up" lol. UPS has got to be the worst shipping company I have ever seen. For every fragile sticker on a package they handle it 2x as rough lol.

I work for UPS.  Don't put any fragile stickers on them please, you are just asking for trouble.  Man, you wouldn't believe the horror stories I have from that place.

I load the large trailers that go in between cities, not the smaller package cars, however I am sure they are similiar. Well, to begin with UPS's training methods emphasize speed over "load quality". So basically they don't care what the package is/fragile/hazard material/whatever. Just throw the dang thing in there as fast as you can so you can get on the next box! As if that isn't bad enough the box has already been hammered on our conveyer belt system, your package will travel an average of about a mile of belt per hub that it visits. The whole time it is on the belts it is travelling completely unsupervised just waiting to get smashed by some other huge package traveling behind it. Also at UPS we have what we call "irregs" short for Irregular packages. Basically anything too heavy or large to go on the aformentioned conveyer belts. These packages are transported via irreg trains. These are basically electric tugs pulling four carts with the large "irreg" packages on them, well whenever they drop off an irreg in the incorrect area it is my job to put that package in their path so they can stop, pick it up, and put it on their train to be delivered to the right area. Well most of the time the irreg driver is way too lazy to stop and *gasp* get off his butt! So they just ram the package with their train until it either is pushed out of the way, or their train goes over it. There now, don't you all feel better about your valuables being shipped all over the country now? Also, in UPS's defence, I am sure Fed Ex hubs are similiar.

I personally like FedEx's speed, but I hate the fact that they just LEAVE my packages at the door. They don't even bother to ring the bell!!! I remember once I decided to check the tracking info (knowing full well that my package wasn't due for another day or so) and found that it said the package had already been delivered. So I go check outside, and sure enough, my 17" LCD monitor was sitting there in plain sight (he didn't even try to hide it behind a plant or something). Now keep in mind that I was home ALL DAY and there was NO way I could have missed the doorbell if he had rang it. I don't know about you, but I'd rather not have a package worth several hundred dollars simply left at my doorstop.

There have also been more than one occassion where the FedEx guy left packages at my side or back doors without leaving a notice on the front door. I found a package with my new video card sitting at my side door (one that I rarely use) a day after the guy delivered it!!!
