markiemrboo Posted May 4, 2005 Posted May 4, 2005 Anyone here used that Akasa TIM Clean? I got my arctic cooler today, but I accidently spilt the bottle and it went on the card. Plus side, it's left it pretty clean and got rid of all the overspill Ceramique. But.. I need to know if this stuff conducts electricity, as it would have certainly gone underneath all the RAM chips... Any ideas?? Not gonna put it in for another hour, so maybe it would have all evaporated by then anyway???
Nerm Posted May 4, 2005 Posted May 4, 2005 Let it sit and dry for about a day to be sure it has completely evaporated.
zigen Posted May 4, 2005 Posted May 4, 2005 what about a hair dryer on warm?
markiemrboo Posted May 4, 2005 Posted May 4, 2005 There's actually a reasonable gap between the RAM so it's probably not stuck under there or anything My friend spilt his bottle over his motherboard once and his computer still works, but... there wasn't really anywhere in that area on the board where it could have gotten trapped. I'll take a hairdrier to it and leave it for an hour (24 hours and i'll DIE!). Sensible idea?
Gremlin Posted May 4, 2005 Posted May 4, 2005 Yo know patience is a virtue. Think of it as this way. Do you have money to buy a new card?? If you do not have one, wait for a day and be happy it works.
markiemrboo Posted May 4, 2005 Posted May 4, 2005 That's true.. I do actually have money to buy a new card if absolutely necessary, but I like this card (well... do I? It gives me a lot of problems ) Maybe I will have to steal my cousins card for tonight then. Still, hairdrier time!!!
NoNothing Posted May 4, 2005 Posted May 4, 2005 id say wait, ive had ALOT of problems with being impatient and fubaring compy parts..fingernails and mobos....
markiemrboo Posted May 4, 2005 Posted May 4, 2005 Well there is stuff stuck under the RAM chips. When I took mr hairdrier to it, it was seeping out and it'd obviously mixed with the Ceramique as it was whitey coloured. That aint gonna evaporate out if it's stuck under there is it?? markiemrboo Posted May 4, 2005 Posted May 4, 2005 Alright. I'll take your word for it I blasted it a bit more with the hairdrier and a bit more came out from under a few chips. If only this hairdrier would blow air without heating it at all, then I would be able to get lots of it out without worrying about overheating chips EDIT: lol I just decided to try and blow underneath the chips myself. It actually worked better than the hairdrier, quite a bit of stuff came out of all the chips. Now I feel dizzy *falls over and goes in to a coma for 24 hours*
hardnrg Posted May 4, 2005 Posted May 4, 2005 that lemony tim clean is rubbish innit? doesn't evaporate readily, doesn't bloody clean anything, and whoever designed the dropper at the top of the bottle deserves to be shot! i'd say get a can of isopropyl alcohol and blast the tim (doesn't) clean out if it's really bothering you... personally i've more than liberally applied tim clean in many vain attempts to clean up cpus, mobo, sockets, everything really... no problems for me... don't use the stuff in the future ever, throw it away, i actually haven't... i think i might use it as a general purpose cleaner to clean my fan blades or something...
