Kamikaze_Badger Posted May 4, 2005 Posted May 4, 2005 To anybody who has served out in Iraq or know somebody who has served, do you know what some high demand items are out there? I was told baby wipes already, and I'm guessing that sun block and bug repellent are good too. Are portable handheld fans allowed there? And, how about any reading materials? Thanks in advance. marsx69 Posted May 4, 2005 Posted May 4, 2005 Well, I wasn't in the heat but I'd say Baby/talc powder, soap, magazines, munchies(nothing that would melt). If since your sending stuff to your brother I'd recomend a local news paper so he can keep up with home stuff. And, yes sun block and bug juice are good too. gunak87 Posted May 4, 2005 Posted May 4, 2005 I've heard that the powder Gatorade is a welcomed gift. I might be wrong though, I'm only 17, and they won't let me go to war because I'm diabetic.

insane_bobo Posted May 4, 2005 Posted May 4, 2005 I am a Marine and I was over in Iraq in May 2003 when President Bush gave the 48 hrs to go into country. The best thing I had when I was over there was my Laptop,DVD's and my IPOD.

bigred Posted May 5, 2005 Posted May 5, 2005 I condiser myself LUCKY that it got me out of millitary service. Jeez I know of a few guys that went in for the same type of work I was going to do... they died serving thier country. then again it's not as bad as you'd think in other ways. so I can't eat candy, so I shouldn't drink... blah. pay attention to your blood sugar, know what you should be taking (insulin / meds) and learn to regulate it... it's the same thing a normal human's body does on it's own. as far as stuff to send I've heard that they want things like condoms, nylons, and other things to keep sand out of weapons.
