Ste Posted May 3, 2005 Posted May 3, 2005 DSL or cable is best. Sometimes it's simply not available. They won't run the lines down the road if they can't make the money back. I'm facing a similar situation soon myself. 471926[/snapback] True but he said nothing bout avialibility.
oldfett Posted May 3, 2005 Posted May 3, 2005 There is nothing currently available near me besides dial-up and satalite. There is cable 5 miles away but there are no plans to run it out by me.
NCC10281982B Posted May 3, 2005 Posted May 3, 2005 Have you thought about ISDN? Even a BRI (128k) (PRI is a t1) connection is better than dialup

NCC10281982B Posted May 3, 2005 Posted May 3, 2005 Sorry, cisco took over my brain for a second... Router#Reload Anyways... ISDN Definitions While I was googleing for that link I saw ISDN advertised for like $30. I'm pretty sure that would be cheaper that satlelite(sp). Check with your telco. Supertech Posted May 3, 2005 Posted May 3, 2005 I may be wrong but I think Directway is TWO way dish now.....obviously uploads arent going to be as fast as downloads but your gaming should improve significantly. I wouldnt try BF1942 or Quake III but the games you speak of should work just fine.
