mick_the_prick Posted May 2, 2005 Posted May 2, 2005 when i up my fsb it also increases my agp, pci and dram. is the dram the memory data rate? i have ddr400 but i think my mobo reads it at 333. anyway, does it matter about the agp, pci and dram because i dont use the agp slot or any pci slots (on-board graphics and usb modem)? Whitelightning Posted May 2, 2005 Posted May 2, 2005 You have to lock the agp/pci at 66/33 in the bios, if not your system will become unstable....Go into the bios and lock it then start to overclock. As for the dram it will increase with your fsb...
mick_the_prick Posted May 2, 2005 Posted May 2, 2005 if i dont use the agp or pci slots then does it really matter?
Byron Posted May 2, 2005 Posted May 2, 2005 unless the board has onboard vid (which sucks) i still wouldnt overclock without an agp/pci bus.
mick_the_prick Posted May 2, 2005 Posted May 2, 2005 (edited) i had a look in my bios and i cant really change much. my mobo is a gigabyte 7VM400M-RZ, if somebody could help me that would be just grand. when i turn on my comp it says "memory data rate 333mhz" and after i overclock it says "memory data rate is 380mhz" etc. is that the speed my mobo is reading the ram? NoNothing Posted May 2, 2005 Posted May 2, 2005 if you are running PCI/AGP at higher then 33/66 you are likely to have a very unstabel board and cause posible damage to your PCI and AGP cards
mick_the_prick Posted May 2, 2005 Posted May 2, 2005 i dont have any pci or agp cards
InvaderTrax Posted May 2, 2005 Posted May 2, 2005 Yes you need to lock your AGP/PCI. If you don't it'll get pretty unstable. However, your board has a VIA chipset, which means it lacks an AGP/PCI lock
ir_cow Posted May 2, 2005 Posted May 2, 2005 YOUR out of luck, never buy VIA chipset boards, and btw it does matter as it can kill your hdds, video cards and any PCI card.
mick_the_prick Posted May 3, 2005 Posted May 3, 2005 ok then, i will just give up. thanks for your help.
bigred Posted May 3, 2005 Posted May 3, 2005 i dont have any pci or agp cards 471660[/snapback] you may not have cards but you still have stuff running on the PCI and AGP bus... integrated crap graphics DO count for that. besides it's gigabyte, micro atx... you won't be getting much of an oc out of that thing, and it won't have the options to do much of it anyway. oralpain Posted May 4, 2005 Posted May 4, 2005 There could be an AGP/PCI ratio setting. Most VIA chiposets I've used had them. Change the ratio to keep things in spec.
