yes i know how mobiles work, the board can take faster ram than that.... 200x11 = 2.2ghz = 3200+ speed, and MOST pc3200 ram cannot go faster than 225-230mhz, thats when fast ram takes shape...gskill pc4400 is rated at 2-2-2-5 @ 200mhz and 2.5-3-3-7 @ 275mhz...

so 225x11= 2.475 and thats not much faster than my 2800+ (clock for clock yes it is, but not the overall speed)

Hehehe, mine can go at 250FSB at 2.5-4-4-8 :)

i thought pc4000 etc was only for pentiums?

Yes you can use DDR400 PC3200 if you feel like it but this means you will be limited by your ram when overclocking so you would need to run dividers a 1:1 divider offers best performance and i recomend getting a high rated ram just so you can run 1:1

no this is not true at all most PC4000 and up are optimized for the AMD Athlon 64 which basicly means they are useing Samsung TCCD chips on a brain power pcb in most cases. I have a Athlon 64 3000+ with some GSKILL PC4800 thats right DDR600 so i know my ram will go all the way upto DDR600 with the listed timings when i put this in my mobo it shows up as DDR400 now seeing how i cant do 300 fsb but im at 290 with a 1:1 divder so it is only running at DDR580 because when running a 1:1 divider the ram speed will match your FSB which means i still have head room if i can infact get my FSB upto 300MHz DDR 400 WONT do that kinda speed if i was useing real DDR400 i would have had to use divders from the start. for a example you could get DDR600 thro it in your pc and your motherboard will just clock it down with out a problem most of the time its down to about DDR400 soo that means you have a lot of overclocking head room now that you have high rated ram. So basicly just grab some high rated ram it wont hender your performance or make your board not want to boot it will just show up as DDR400 untill you overclock and then you will start getting its true power.
