I really need this CPU.

Also some decent pc3200 RAM, preferably 2 X 256mb in dual channel or if not then 1 stick of 512.

Has to be decent with decent timings, no generic stuff.

Sorry it needs to be pc3200, i dont think AMD socket A boards can take pc3500 :P

haha thats funny cuz ive seen gskill pc4400 run on an athlon XP with an abit nfs- v2 :/ pcXXXX has nothing really to do with it. its mainly if it can run at stock speeds. ie: 166x2 = 333mhz fsb, or 200x2 = 400fsb and of course 4400 can run 200mhz :D

hmmm ok well im gona be using it on a Abit NF7 v2.0 board, which can do dual 400MHz DDR so theres not much point buyin the pc3500 which can do 433Mhz, but only using 400Mhz...

fast ram is for when you OC...

also why do u want a mobile if you dont OC?

?

I am going to o/c...a lot.

The mobile has an unlocked multiplier, and has a lower stock voltage...which basically means you can o/c it like a biyatch!

So yea i also need some 400Mhz dual channel RAM, as thats the fastest the board takes.

If you have any advice though it would be cool :)

yes i know how mobiles work, the board can take faster ram than that.... 200x11 = 2.2ghz = 3200+ speed, and MOST pc3200 ram cannot go faster than 225-230mhz, thats when fast ram takes shape...gskill pc4400 is rated at 2-2-2-5 @ 200mhz and 2.5-3-3-7 @ 275mhz...

so 225x11= 2.475 and thats not much faster than my 2800+ (clock for clock yes it is, but not the overall speed)

hmmm i was i was under the impression that with an Abit NF7 v2.0 board the fastest RAM it could take was pc3200...am i wrong?

Ok so what RAM would you recommend i get, bearing in mind i also wana keep costs down.

no, they say that 'supported' speed: ie: pc2100/pc2700/pc3200 is for STOCK use: 133 (pc2100) is for older xp's 133x2 = 266fsb, pc2700 (166mhz) is for 2400+ to 2800+ (even some 3000+) AT STOCK SPEEDS. and the pc3200 is for mostly 3200+ running 400fsb.

any motherboard can take any speed of ram it will be downclocked to ddr400 at default but as soon as you start overclocking the FSB the ram speed increases as well so higher rated ram is better (ie PC3500, PC4000, PC4400, ect.) for overclocking because you know that your ram will do up to the certin speed.

there is a way to prevent this from happening tho you can set a divider in the bios so the cpu will run at a certin speed and the ram will run at a lower speed so say i have a 2500+ which is at say 10X250 if that is the case your ram with a 1:1 divider which means the FSB and half the ram spedd are the same so 10X250 1:1 divider means your ram would be at 250MHz equaling DDR 500 or PC4000 but when running a divider it will the set it to be say 10X250 with a 9:10 divider it would be say 225MHz which means your ram speed would be DDR 450 or PC3500 now i hope this isnt to confuseing just let me know and ill try to explain more in detail :)
