Ston_Haus Posted January 17, 2003 Posted January 17, 2003 I have a legal copy of windows pro, but i want to install it on 2 computers. I have it on 1 already and that one was activated with the product code that i have. Is it gonna work if I activate it with the same product code again? Is there a way to tell the computer that it is activated? P.S. I have tried to use xp anti-spy but I still get the activate windows message and I can only get into windows now through safe mode. Any help would be greatly appreciated

VolcomPimp Posted January 18, 2003 Posted January 18, 2003 if you have enterpise edition of xp pro *cough *cough* then it doesnt make you dont have to activate, but you need a valid key I think for windows update.... my only advice is to find a *fix* for it... no I cannot list any sites for this *fix* nor mention any as far as I know... mikeock Posted January 19, 2003 Posted January 19, 2003 start the activation wizard when it asks how you would like to do so tell it by phone. After doing that it should take you to another screen. Hit the cancel button here and it should no longer pop-up. This is just what i have heard but never tried
YODA74 Posted January 19, 2003 Posted January 19, 2003 not sure about yours I run Corp. edition but you should beable to Goto>start>programs>accessories>system tools>activate windows,if you click on it , it will tell you if it is activated, which it must be or you would not be using it now. Or try this in the run box type "oobe/msoobe /a" without the quotes It will pop up a window telling you if it has been activated or not You can reload xp to the origonal machine so many time not sure on the number and after that it will no longer work... as far as it working on a different machine "Not"...... corp. versions allows for one "corporation" to install the same OS (using the same product key...a corporate product key) on many different machines. retail copy of XP. has its own specific product key and COA which means as soon as you install it it generates a 25 diget code other than the installation key which is not duplicable.. you can load it on another machine but it will not run for long.. SoyoJoe Posted January 21, 2003 Posted January 21, 2003 yah if u reformat and reinstall u have to call to get a #, but if u simply reinstall it doesnt require one.
TripleAgent Posted January 26, 2003 Posted January 26, 2003 There is a keygen, XPKey. Just make a new key for the second install. If you own it legally, hey why not?
