Digicard Posted April 11, 2005 Posted April 11, 2005 (edited) AMD64 3500+ clocked at 2.2 ghz and 3800+ clocked at 2.4 ghz, how do they perform differently besides its faster (of cux lol.......) ? But then, is it worth to pay extra 120 to upgrade to 3800+ (didn't get the processor yet and this is new comp)? Since I will not able to OC my processor within 3 years due to warranty, how much increase in performance for online games like EQ2 or WOW with a faster processor? and how come everyone is waiting for Venice cores? What so good about it? I have check over the review of a Venice cores 3200+, it doesn't perform as good as original Amd64 in some cases n its only a lil bit better in gaming. Well, that lil bit I don't think it will make a difference........then how come everyone say its good? This is interesting; all three of our applications that test synthetic memory performance show the new Venice core as being marginally slower than the Newcastle core. http://www.pcper.com/article.php?aid=127 Review has shown that this new CPU is not as good as it sounds beside OCing. then..........why do you guys still want it? Even you OC it, it will perform worse than the same speed stock speed, right? thanks for your help ! Byron Posted April 11, 2005 Posted April 11, 2005 Everyone is waiting for the venice cores because they hit 2.8 on stock voltage and low 3.x with higher voltage on water. :-) Thats more then a big enough reason for me to sell my 3500+ winnie and get a revision E a64. And why wait 3 years to overclock!!?? thats insane, amd does not know if you blew up your proc by overclocking hehe.

Guest Raven65 Posted April 11, 2005 Posted April 11, 2005 Get the 3800+ I had kind of the same dilemma. If you've read any of my past posts. I'ts worth the 100 to 120 more. but go to pricewatch.com and check you might be able to find it cheaper. As per the venice core. Can you afford what it will be? Do you really want to buy an item that hasn't been tested by one of your other OCC buddies first. Let them spend the bucks. Sit back like an old bull, don't run down the hill to get 1 cow. Walk down the hill and get em all.
BabyBalrog Posted April 11, 2005 Posted April 11, 2005 Well seriously I opted for a 3000+ because I don't like buying chips right before a lot of inavation, So i'm going to sit on it for a few years then up grade to a multy core bahemith. As far as yoru games go the CPU is going to have a minor impact on it, what you raelly need is at least a GIG of RAM, LL if posible. Myhumble oppinion is to go with thee cheeper on check pricewatch. Venice cores are big news becaues of thememory controller and the SSE3 support
cchalogamer Posted April 11, 2005 Posted April 11, 2005 Yeah save the cash, get a 3000+ like mine get it over 3500+ speeds on stock cooling, if you blow it your not out near asmuch money, and heck AMD cant tell that it wasnt another type of malfunction.
