martymcfly Posted April 5, 2005 Posted April 5, 2005 i just opened my father's computer to install some ram. when i went to put the ram in (computer off ) i accidentally toughed the intel stock HS and i was burned. amazing how hot it was! I think i will stick to my good old northy. BTW, i also toughed the NB hs and it was burning hot too. I didnt know 865pe chipsets get so hot. fire_storm Posted April 5, 2005 Posted April 5, 2005 Just think what those high temps are doing to the cpu.
martymcfly Posted April 5, 2005 Posted April 5, 2005 they dont damage the cpu, it is a prescott. It is a good sign that the HS is that hot. it means that it is making good contact.
gravy Posted April 5, 2005 Posted April 5, 2005 yeah, but a better heatsink will keep the cpu cooler and not be burning hot to the touch, even when overclocked, like, even my old thermaltake spark 7 would only be warn to the touch with a high overclock at full load
martymcfly Posted April 5, 2005 Posted April 5, 2005 it is not going to be OCed, intel mobo

markiemrboo Posted April 5, 2005 Posted April 5, 2005 there is a ducting mod, but yes it is stuffy 457370[/snapback] You mean there WAS a ducting mod? Hasn't it melted away yet??
martymcfly Posted April 5, 2005 Posted April 5, 2005 not really a "mod", but it is a duct from the outside in. Then again, the outside is a wall
noseeme Posted April 5, 2005 Posted April 5, 2005 Why in the bloody hell were you touching it? XD The funniest part is that you decided to touch the Northbridge, after you were burned by the CPU. Charles Darwin anyone?
martymcfly Posted April 5, 2005 Posted April 5, 2005 i didnt get burned actually, but it was painful. Not just "warm"
