TheBeast779 Posted January 14, 2003 Posted January 14, 2003 Ok heres the deal I have not cured my addiction to computer building and I want to build my next, but don't want to spend that much for a system. I want a motherboard with regular sdram or a mix of ddr and reg. sdram. I want a motherboard that has onboard sound and maybe video. And it needs to be a Socket A. Plus I don't want the system to run too hot and loud. Thanks for reading!

cptkook Posted January 15, 2003 Posted January 15, 2003 you should be able to find something over at: http://www.motherboards.org/articles/mothe...rd-reviews.html

TheBeast779 Posted January 15, 2003 Posted January 15, 2003 Does anyone have an idea on what cpu fan i should get that is pretty quiet and still cools good? I was thinking the V7+ since you can change the speed.
somar Posted January 16, 2003 Posted January 16, 2003 ASUS's A7N266-VM looks like a pretty good board. It's micro-ATX form factor, has an AGP 4x slot if you want to upgrade video later, but has integrated GeForce2 graphics, integrated sound, and runs DDR at up to 266. There is a version of it with onboard LAN built in too, so that's a possible bonus. http://usa.asus.com/mb/socketa/a7n266-vm/s...ecification.htm ASUS also makes some high quality boards - I was a stoic supporter of them until I ended up switching to MSI for my boards (but I haven't seen MSI's with built-in video - there are some nice ones with audio built in though). d3bruts1d Posted January 16, 2003 Posted January 16, 2003 Does anyone have an idea on what cpu fan i should get that is pretty quiet and still cools good? I was thinking the V7+ since you can change the speed. Which do you want more? Quiet or cool? Those that are quiet don't cool extreamly well, and those that cool well, aren't quiet. Zalman has a product line of silent products. - No fans used. They cool, ok, and should be fine if your not planning to OC. TheBeast779 Posted January 16, 2003 Posted January 16, 2003 Yeah is was wondering about those. I will probably get a 1-1.3ghz cpu in it. but i don't want to OC or anything. So if that can do the job in keeping it in the mid 40's or lower than that would do the trick. One question about a case, would it help to get Aluminum case or does it help that much? TheBeast779 Posted January 21, 2003 Posted January 21, 2003 Do the ECS's have temp monitoring on them?
