Acid Storm Posted January 14, 2003 Posted January 14, 2003 I have a nieuw asus a7v8x motherboard with just a few small problems. 1. I don't know what temperature to believe. First it showed 58 with a good new volcano 7 heatsink on just a temporary duron 1300. I am sure it sits very tight on the cpu, with artic silver. my room temprature is about 18-20C, and my case is open. so, I figured that was not possible. After I updated the bios the temperature droped to 27 at full load. that's more like it, but which one is right. Sandra said something like 35C my bios and asus probe say 27C but motherboard monitor 5220 has 1 sensor which sais 58 again, it's the first sensor, but I don't know what it reads. o, the heatsink should know at what speed to run, and it runs af 3500-4800rpm sugesting the temperature is high. does anybody know how to control the speed on the volcano 7?? secondly I can't see what my ram speed it. I don't know it anybody else has the same problem with this motherboard, but I'm supposed to run 333mhz. I can't compare with benchmarks because of the small cash in the duron. any ideas?? thanks for the help
DevilMB3017 Posted January 14, 2003 Posted January 14, 2003 I think you should resit your heatsink. Maybe to much AS3? Too much = bad! If the temps are still that high, then I would be concerned.
mikeock Posted January 14, 2003 Posted January 14, 2003 sometimes with mbm5 the first sensor is not the cpu sometimes it is the second one
Acid Storm Posted January 14, 2003 Posted January 14, 2003 I agree with mikeock. but what is the 58C? it does worry me. I did a little experiment by putting the side panal back on. It raised the temperature 5C from 27 to 32. the air that came from the fan was pretty cool before I closed it, but is was warm when I opened it up. I think it would make more sence with the 27 to 32 difference then from 58 to what should be 63. that air could burn you (those temps could burn you). It was still stable with seti running all night. the fan speed went from 3700rpm to 4500rpm. that was pretty loud. It was quieter without sidepanal. any ideas on how to quiet down a volcano 7 fan (without any costs)??
