VolcomPimp Posted January 13, 2003 Posted January 13, 2003 well I have a Sun monitor that's a 21' flat panel and I've noticed that when I switch between or open apps sometimes that the screen size kind of moves a little bit.... I've noticed that the left side of the start button slightly goes off the screen at times if I open like IE or certain apps and when it closes it goes back... my res is at 1600x1200... could this be due to just having a large monitor w/ such a high res??? Veritech Posted January 13, 2003 Posted January 13, 2003 It gets a little techy, but I'll try my best... In a brief, (slammed) explaination, the monitor's voltage regulator is not a very high quality one. It takes more power to draw a bright image, and if the regulator cannot keep up with the power demand called by the flyback transformer, then the flyback isn't getting the power it needs to sustain the image, and it compensates for that by adjusting the screen size, so it doesn't have to draw as much. Unfortunately, alot of cheap (price wise) monitors are using even cheaper (quality wise) parts, and poor power supplies and regulators are just one of the many "cheaped" out parts. Other symptoms may include unstable screen brightness. Unfortunately, it's a hit and miss thing. Some monitors work fine, while others don't. Hope this helps. VolcomPimp Posted January 13, 2003 Posted January 13, 2003 hmmm... could sharing an outlet w/ other devices cause this??? or is it mainly just due to it being a huge monitor that sucks a load of electricity?
