Sol Posted January 13, 2003 Posted January 13, 2003 I'm new. I thought I knew all about FSB and RAM speed, and all that good stuff, but I was wrong. I keep reading about so many motherboards and how fast all the componets work. I am very confused. Say I want to have an Athlon 2600+ FSB333 with some DDR400 RAM. When I put this in a motherboard, lets say an Asus A7N8X. How do I set the CPU FSB along with the speed of the memory? Also, I hear the term "system clock" a lot. I know what that is, and I see different settings of it on computers. How does this come in to factor? Can someone clear this stuff up for me? Thanks. Sol Posted January 14, 2003 Posted January 14, 2003 But I thought the processor is at 333Mhz FSB. What do you mean by the 200Mhz FSB?
f-corsten Posted January 15, 2003 Posted January 15, 2003 In fact it is a dual channel 166, giving a 333, when i say 200, i mean a 400fsb, giving you the ability to use the same bus speed that the memory at some overclock. In bios settings the fsb will be displayed as 166, but in fact you will have 333.
