Ashiitaka Posted January 12, 2003 Posted January 12, 2003 Anyone know expected dates for HT 2.4+?
vyroburn Posted January 12, 2003 Posted January 12, 2003 i know HT is out in the 2.8 and 3.06 chips i think,,,, i dont know if they are gonna put HTing in the 2.4... but i could be wrong...... HT isnt gonna be that good of a thing man... alll it is doing is tricking your computer into thinking that you have two processors....partitioning work load....... IT isnt really anything new nad ammazing.... plus you have to make shure your programs will run on duel proccessor becuase that is in escence what you will have two processors... I know some games like the quake series do not run on duel processors and i know Jedi KNight 2 doesnt work on duel processors.. and some apps have trouble so that might be somthing you take into consideration...... personally i think it is just a marketing thing to get more people to think that intel is better again.... in all actuallity they just have two lesser chips on one zifff running insync...... BLAH crap intel and their mind games....
Ronin Posted January 12, 2003 Posted January 12, 2003 dont believe in the hype, look at the benchmarks
vyroburn Posted January 12, 2003 Posted January 12, 2003 dont get me wrong its gonna be better. but why not persue other areas? i mean why HT? Its like teaching an new dog old tricks.....
bishop245 Posted January 12, 2003 Posted January 12, 2003 well a single ht chip is going to be cheap than 2 normal isn't it
vyroburn Posted January 13, 2003 Posted January 13, 2003 ya but you could get two 2.0 gighertz to the same price as your 3.06 with HT and the duel 2.0's would be faster and cooler..... and you would just be stone cold pimp with duel processors
bishop245 Posted January 13, 2003 Posted January 13, 2003 OUCH you got me there
Ashiitaka Posted January 14, 2003 Posted January 14, 2003 But what about the infamous Tom's Hardware video? And the benchmarks you mentioned.. don't they give HT high results?
d3bruts1d Posted January 14, 2003 Posted January 14, 2003 Never put stock in Tom's hardware.
posey Posted January 14, 2003 Posted January 14, 2003 Never put stock in Tom's hardware. I have to agree with that one d3ruts1d
NyCUnDaGroUnD Posted January 14, 2003 Posted January 14, 2003 well why dont we all just wait for a pin trick which will enable HT on 2.4 ghz and 2.8 ghz chips instead of getting ones with HT. This is another example where INtel is blood hungry for our money. why not advance to like 3.5 ghz chips instead of goin back to 2.4 ghz HT chips. I hope AMD beats intel with a new chip during this 2.4 ghz HT time period.
Ashiitaka Posted January 15, 2003 Posted January 15, 2003 Ok.. doesn't matter to me how reliable Tom's is.. but the video.. seemed pretty objective to me. Two comps side by side, 3 Ghz HT beating the 3.6 w/o HT. This is objective, right?
