DevilMB3017 Posted January 11, 2003 Posted January 11, 2003 They're not only for P4's but they are P4 ready because they have the 4 pin ATX connector that powers the P4 CPU. (it's the little two black, two yellow wire...)
frictionboy Posted January 11, 2003 Posted January 11, 2003 so could they be fitted to a athlon cpu?

Ronin Posted January 11, 2003 Posted January 11, 2003 Pentium 4 ready, AMD approved, all that is just a bid to try to get some of that brand name sales swung their way. Ive never seen an ATX powersupply that wouldnt work with AMD or Intel.
T-shirt Posted January 11, 2003 Posted January 11, 2003 The ready for P4 PSUs have an extra connector (4 wires in a 2x2 square connector) It is required for P4 MB's (their are a few non-standard MB's that can use a molex type instead) and meets a minimum rating on the 5volt in that connector during "sleep mode", to allow wake on LAN,Modem,or timer. if you want you can ignore that connector, and use the PSU with an AMD MB. But it wouldn't make sense to Buy a new P4 PSU for an AMD box as they cost slightly more for the same size/quality
frictionboy Posted January 12, 2003 Posted January 12, 2003 no, i'm not planing on buying a new psu, but i might soon buy a case, and some of them say that the psu is for the p4, thats why i asked that
mikeock Posted January 12, 2003 Posted January 12, 2003 if it says p4 ready/approved that means you are goign to have to move a little wire out of the way to keep it from getting in the way of other stuff

vyroburn Posted January 12, 2003 Posted January 12, 2003 this is not true, no one has gave the man accurate information.... The abit at7 max 2 uses the four pin connector as do the p4 systems........ when i says anything abotu p4 it just means that it has the little deal and will work on new p4 mother boards, as well as the new amd boards.... just sayig that it is a new PSU,,, even so enermax still makes there PSU's with the old style of connector that goes on really old boards
