JeepNPhreek Posted January 8, 2003 Posted January 8, 2003 I bought an xp 2100+ and a volcano 9 cpu fan. My computer is running at about 48 degrees to 50 degrees at idle. Although it never really moves from there at all. Maybe 1 or 2 degrees. My fan is running at about 4200 RPM and i have artic silver cpu compound on it. What should i try to make this stupid thing run cooler. What is a good temp for it to run at anyway?
SUpitch15 Posted January 8, 2003 Posted January 8, 2003 Do you have fans in the tower? I have an XP 2000+ with 5 80mm fans and a V9, and I run right around 40 C.
JeepNPhreek Posted January 8, 2003 Posted January 8, 2003 yes i have 5 case fans, 2 intakes in the rear, 1 intake in teh side, and 2 exhaust in the front.
SUpitch15 Posted January 8, 2003 Posted January 8, 2003 I doubt this is your problem, but I would think you should have the exhaust fans in the rear and the intakes in the front. I've never heard of reversing them like you have it. The way I see it, most of the heat is coming from the board area, so you want to get it out as quickly as possible, instead of pulling the hot air to the front (past all of your drives). Just a suggestion...
