Pc Freezes..

Recommended Posts

Hello all, recently (yesterday and today) I've had problems with my pc. While running folding and some other programs, my computer just randomly freezes. No bsod, no nothing. I dont oc, i got a new stick of memory but ive checked that a million times with memtest, so i believe thats not the problem. Prime 95 said "critical hardware error" or something when i ran it along time ago, but nothing bad happened so i ignored it. NOTE: I just started a new WU with GROMACS core, all the ones before were TINKER, im not sure if that affects anything tho. CPU temp is about 50

I dont think its the 350W PSU, running F@H and superPI 32MB and various other programs While MBM is running, the rails are fine. Except core 1, i dont know what that is and it says 0.11V. otherwhise all other ones are good, ie. 3.3 - 3.36, 5.0 - 5.11, etc.

well, it sounds as if one of your programs may be causing this problem. Shut down folding and the others and see what happens over 24hrs. If no freezing occurs, add one of the programs every 24 hrs. Start w/ folding@home etc.

This way you will eliminate s/w as the culprit.

I suggest running without the new stick of RAM for a little while to see if the problem stops.

If it does, then it just isn't compatible with something....either the BIOS or the other RAM.

In CMOS lower your ram timings a bit

usually you can run faster timings with one stick than two

hence the reason people buy as large a stick as they can afford on a new build.

I would try that before you buy a new power supply.

this might sound dumb, but have you checked to make sure you have all of the correct drivers? most of the time problems like that could have the easiest fix, like drivers.

did u have this problem before you put in the new ram?
